INTRODUCING TO GURUKUL FOUNDATION



Gurukul Foundation is legally government registered a non-profit, apolitical, non-religious, philanthropic & charitable organization for uplift of vulnerable poorest of the poor primitive hill tribals, disadvantaged persons with disability towards their education and livelihood, destitute women and children, prejudiced old, infirm, indigent, orphans, religious minorities, People living with and affected by HIV and AIDS (including children), widows and socially backward communities primarily in inaccessible hills and other difficult terrains with focus on arduous geographical contiguity and non-availability of basic minimum needs of human life  etc .  So, it works both at grassroots community levels as well as policy advocacy levels to influence towards pro-poor government policies with bottom up need based approach ensuring human dignity and fundamental human rights as accepted globally in a sustainable manner. Now it is expanding activities in the tribal and hilly regions of Odisha Province in India from strength to strength.  An informal association of hundreds of dedicated social activists since world infamous worst natural disaster known as Odisha super-cyclone of 1999 gradually culminated into a registered development entity in the name of Gurukul Foundation in July 2017.

Major Activities and Achivements


Community Health and Development

Gurukul Foundation stresses on development and promotion voluntary efforts/groups by mobilizing local communities and strengthening of Community Based Organizations (CBOs) for all round sustainable development. It addresses health issues with a focus on old-aged, women and children’ health (MCH), address issues of HIV and AIDS, positive living, care and support.

Networking and collaboration

Collaborate with the agencies working in the development sector, to be a contributor to the state’s larger response and development endeavours. Therefore promote networking with grassroot / local, regional, national, international agencies, technical institutions and individuals active in development sector are important part of development intervention.

Our organization Gurukul Foundation, organized the following days of observation among other days, involving the general public, students and youths and made them aware of the importance of these days.

Tribal development programme and initiatives for backward, Schedule Caste & minority communities.

In various sectors the programmes covered include employment-cum-income generation, tribal agriculture, Credit and marketing facilities, to free the tribes from bondage of indebtedness, protective legislation, minor products of forests, to improve sanitary conditions, drinking water facilities, education facilities in these tribal areas, integration of different sectoral development programmes, 

Persons with disability (PwD)

It provides support in counseling, mobilization, training and placement of hearing impaired youth among others. Gurukul Foundation has been mobilizing hearing impaired (PwD) youth from all over Odisha for skill development training.

Creative School Education

Gurukul Foundation has been providing free of cost cooked food to the students for development of moral and ethics among school children in super-cyclone affected areas of Jagatsinghpur in Odisha on India’s eastern coast over Bay of Bengal. It also conducts programmes on health, afforestation, climate change, disaster management, yoga and environmental cleanliness etc among these school children for holistic development towards posterity.

CORE STRENGTH


    This is an organisation started by a group of motivated youth among community itself. So this organisation is born, brought up, nurtured and managed by community itself. As a result its volunteer base is more than 1300 among which women members are more than 700. Scheduled caste, scheduled tribe, minorities, backward classes and primitive hilly tribes have got overwhelming number in organisational programme activities who are handheld by teams of experts with decades long experience in UNDP, UNOPS, UNICEF, CARE, Plan International, PSI-USAID & Indian national NGOs.
