Sustainable Agriculture
Gurukul Foundation focuses on promoting the farming System and Practices which maintain and enhance economic viability of agricultural production with sustainable ecological practices in hilly tribal areas of remote Malkangiri (Didadi, Bonda tribe), Koraput, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jagatsinghpur, Kandhmal, kjagatsinghpur and others.
Childrights, education and development
Main thematic focus in this regard include action and advocacy for child rights and elimination of child labour and abuse; Address educational and development needs of children living in vulnerabilities; Initiate innovative school/Training Centres based and out of school/Centre activities for overall development of children with a special focus on girls and otherwise challenged
Women development and gender issues
Important programme focus is on promotion of gender sensitive atmosphere in the society through direct and indirect methods. Similarly, use of information, education and communication (IEC) and empowerment of women/ adolescents to increase their control on their lives along with address educational and developmental needs of girl child and adolescents are at the core of all social development programmes
Awareness and Capacity Building
Awareness and training, employability skill enhancement program of PwDs among others, capacity building in the field of livelihood, education, health, hygiene and community managed interventions are being undertaken so as to foster sustainable processes of development, reforms and transition.
IAS Gurukul
Gurukul Foundation started free of cost coaching to hundreds of civil service aspirants (IAS, IPS, PCS/Odisha Administrative Service/ Odisha Police Service Group A posts etc) in the state of Odisha
Disaster management
The entire province of Odisha witnesses either flood, drought or cyclone every alternate year as is evident from Govt records as well. In order to make people aware of preparatory for these natural calamities, Gurukul Foundation organises season-wise awareness programmes ahead of disaster advancement months on various issues such as safety measures in pre and post disaster situations.
Women Empowement for Village
Trust is especially working in various women empowerment activities in rural & remote areas. Since 2010 Trust involved in formation of women Self Help Group (SHGs) with the support of NABARD and regularly efforts for social & economic development of rural community especially for women’s under this scheme.
Creative School Education
Gurukul Foundation has been providing free of cost cooked food to the students for development of moral and ethics among school children in super-cyclone affected areas of Jagatsinghpur in Odisha on India’s eastern coast over Bay of Bengal. It also conducts programmes on health, afforestation, climate change, disaster management, yoga and environmental cleanliness etc among these school children for holistic development towards posterity.
Swachha Bharat Mission
After the initiation of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission) , people are becoming aware of the various advantages of having a sanitation unit near (or inside) their house over defecating in the open or fields nearby.
Plantation
Everyone knows that how important trees are for us and other organisms living on the earth. Trees improve air quality, prevent water pollution and soil erosion, provide a habitat for wildlife and shield life on earth from ultraviolet rays. Planting trees has become need of the hour so that we can save our planet for the future and improve our present day life too.
Tribal Development
In various sectors the programmes covered include employment-cum-income generation, tribal agriculture, Credit and marketing facilities, to free the tribes from bondage of indebtedness, protective legislation, minor products of forests, to improve sanitary conditions, drinking water facilities, education facilities in these tribal areas, integration of different sectoral development programmes, awareness in removing barriers in tribal development.
